Current Efforts

Unlike what the New York Times says, Detroit is not an ‘Urban Wasteland’, between the empty acres and vacant buildings are vibrant communities revitalizing the city. A group of young black millennials are transforming communities by turning gentrification into a learning experience, teaching urban agricultural skills, proving diversity is good business, breaking gender barriers, making healthy lifestyles fun, developing new music, and generally making people's lives better and safer. People are focused on moving forward and building on the city’s legacy instead of mourning its decline.
